Three words come to mind when thinking about Alexander McQueen’s designs: opulent, delicate and exquisite. You see, there is no middle of the road with McQueen, one either really loves or really hates his designs and we are in the group of those who love every one of them and who felt that his death was a terrible loss for the fashion world.
Founded by the late English designer Lee Alexander McQueen in 1992, this fashion house quickly gained a reputation for opulent (and sometimes outrageous) bespoke creations. Today the line is under the creative direction of Sarah Burton, who continues the house’s tradition of turning out impeccably tailored, beautiful clothes. She created the gown worn by Catherine Middleton as she wed Prince William, becoming the Duchess of Cambridge.
Sarah Burton sent exuberant, extravagant footwear down the Alexander McQueen Spring 2011 runway. Although the intricate styles stole the show, they’re over the top for some events. Luckily, Burton designed the shoe below, a wearable replica: a classic T-strap pump complete with foliage cutwork appliques. Turn to this architectural-heeled, 5″ stunner to ground everything from frothy dresses to basic denim.
The Satin Tulip-Heel pump below by Sarah Burton is also a replica of what she sent down the runway, this show is a classic peep-toe complete with a tulip-inspired back.
- Topstitched duchess satin crafts peep-toe style.
- “Karma metal” heel blooms into carved tulip back.
- Covered platform adds comfortable lift.
- 5″ stiletto heel.
- Metallic leather lining.
- Made in Italy.
A motorcycle jacket inspires the sandal below, it also inspires the sandalized leather bootie’s notched collar and zipper.
- Exposed zipper—decked out with Alexander McQueen logo-engraved skull tab—peels open a notched, snapped collar.
- Peep toe and cutouts reveal 1″ platform.
- 4 3/4″ covered heel.
- Rises approximately 3 3/4″ up the ankle.
- Leather lining and sole.
- Made in Italy.

We love to celebrate powerful women by wearing nothing but high heels to work and to play but there is a time in the life of all powerful women when all we need is a comfortable pair of shoes. This is not to say that high heeled pumps or sandals are not comfortable but the only way to attain height and comfort is by wearing a great pair of espadrilles.
We are in luck because this spring one of the main trends is a 70s look which lends itself to the appearance of espadrilles in all kinds of designs and styles. Here are a few that we have named the ‘must haves’. Keep in mind also that we have a great offer for these shoes, use coupon code “APRIL40” before the end of April to get $40 of a $140 purchase, this is more than enough to get a couple of great espadrilles. Let us know which shoe is your favorite.

Here we are, spring is finally here and all that snow and rain will hopefully allow sunny days to prevail. Even if you are on a tight budget and new clothes are not an option for the new season (and let’s face it, with the economy as it is, this is highly likely), the best way to update your wardrobe for the new season is a great new pair of shoes.
I wrote about the absolute best shoes to buy, nude pumps which go with everything and are great for the office but not everything in live is work, work, work, we like to have fun too and Saturday and Sundays have a specially good place in our hearts and so do the shoes that we can wear for the weekend.
Jessica Simpson continues to build a great empire because she is a woman who understand what other women like in clothes and shoes and here I bring you a must have a couple of pairs of shoes for sprig that will take you well into the summer.
Jessica Simpson Women’s Massi Platform Sandal, $89 ($69 with discount)
Step up your warm weather fashion to new heights in this fab shoe from Jessica Simpson. Massi brings you a grey snake stamped leather upper with adjustable side strap and cut out details. This sexy sandal is complete with a 4 3/4 inch dark cork heel and matching 1 inch covered platform. These shoes are fun, flirty and very comfortable (you can tell now that I already own them!). They have a 1″ platform and 4 1/4″ heel which makes them easy to walk in.

The best news? they come in 3 colors: White, Yellow and Gray. I love the leopard insole in the gray shoes, it gives it a touch of chic, wear gray during the first days of Spring when the weather is still a bit chilly but if you want a pair that will last thru the summer, white and yellow are your best options. I have the yellow pair since we saw all bright colors on the Spring/Summer runways. Pair your yellow shoes with crop jeans and a crisp white Tshirt for a fun look. Alternatively, if you dare combine it with more colors, we saw that on the runways too!
You can get these shoes at many shoe retailers but if you buy from Amazon, you can get an extra $20 off of the price of the shoe so you get it for only $69, a steal. Visit Amazon for the discounted price and I hope you enjoy your new shoes just as much as I an enjoying mine.
What do you think of these shoes? let me know in the comments!

Sheer and lace clothing, two of the most noticeable trends of Spring 2011. Even though sheer had cemented itself into the fashion industry as of last year, lace has also made a comeback.
Jason Wu’s creations at the New York fashion week ‘11, where lace and sheer were dominant .
This Spring Season may carry some trends from last season, but you all would be glad to hear there are a lot of varieties with what you can do this season along with some brand new additions we have not for years. The elements of the 70’s are showing faces in the runways since last year and have carried in to this year, along with punk and biker clothing trends making a breakthrough.
Balmians Spring ‘11 collection showing off punk clothing.
Macrame is by far the most innovative style of clothing this year in my opinion, with a lot of very well known designers using it in their dresses. It is mostly used as an accessory because of its heavy weight and bulky feeling . But this year we see it in clothing.
Left: Macrame at Gucci ‘11 ; Right: Nautical inspired macramé at Dior ‘11
Tail hems are a nice formal way of dressing this season too with a couple of designers using it in their creations .
Skirt with a tail hem at No. 21 ‘11 collection
One of my favorite trends this year; the seductive, somewhat repulsive but definitely stylish crop tops . Crop tops to me are a piece of art in clothing form, but sadly only a few of the brave ones are courageous enough to expose their skin. There is a lot of elegance in crop tops , they are not just for the gym or just sun bathing when it is warm. They can add an elegance of beauty when and if you wear them the right way.
Left: Yves Saint Laurent ‘11 with an elegant bared midriff;
Right: Cutaway midriff with Phillip Lim’s ‘11 collection;
In the end this spring will be really colorful with a lot of new fashion trends you have not seen before. This was just the basic idea of the trends, next time we will go into much more detail and we would talk about shoes, accessories etc.

The first fashion show I ever watched was Calvin Klein’s and it was like being inside of a dream made up of perfect women, perfect makeup and perfect clothes. You name a trend and I am probably the first to comment on it, dissect it and probably try it on at a store near you but this time it is different. After several seasons of high, high skirts (which look absolutely chic with sky-high polished heels if you ask me), a new silhouette began to emerge everywhere. The spring runways were covered by the same perfect models, perfect makeup but … mid-calf length skirts?? I know I am not watching this, it is my mind playing games with me but on second thought, yes, that is what I saw…
Model of the moment Arizona Muse wafted down the runway in a perfect incarnation of the designer (Calvin Klein)’s soft-edged minimalism but the skirt however hovered about 2 inches above the ankle (a no man’s land between maxi and mini). I could not think of a way to wear it. You see, I am 5”4” and curvy and there is no way I am going to wear a skirt like that. For us short girls the mini with nude pumps or the maxi with high wedges are the best way to go but a mid-calf skirt just cuts the otherwise long line that our legs would make appear. The skirts look incredibly chic on the genetically gifted blonde but it is a huge question mark for the rest of us. Does the word frumpy ring a bell?
Not only the length is an issue but also the fabric, crazy prints or overly ‘sweet’ florals only give it a look from way back in the past and wearing this skirt with flats reminds me of the 1960s. Some of you might agree but for those of you who don’t, if you must wear this trend (after all, it was in just about every designer’s show) here are a few tricks to pull it off:
• High heels are a must and ankle straps were the choice of most designers
• Wear a simple top (since most of the skirts also have volume)
• If you must wear a belt, it should be a skinny one (try a textured or skin belt)
• Avoid heavy layers on top
• Show some shoulder and arm
Get ready to see this trend on style setters near you …will you get a mid-calf skirt?

Spring will be here in matter of weeks (3 to be exact) and everybody will add a new color to their wardrobes, white. Not just for clothes anymore, this color is huge for accessories too this year and handbags in white look chic when paired with a pair of jeans and a tank top or a light sweater. Looking great is made easy when walking around with a white bag.
While white leather handbags are the hottest new trend in fashion, most people do not know about it. It is like our own little fashion secret. If you are looking for a white handbag I would suggest leather because you get the tough quality of leather with the style of the white handbag.
When choosing white leather handbags, it is important to get the most quality for the cheapest price. This is no secret among the white leather handbags community. You want to get the fashion while still maintaining that functional and versatile features that you get in other white handbags. If you have trouble selecting which white handbag you are interested in, just imagine what you would use it for and what style you are looking to achieve. No woman wants to have regrets about the purchases they have made, so just think ahead and make the right purchase the first time.
White leather handbags are on the incline in sales over the last few years. Studies have shown that people want to buy white. It is no secret! Women from all over have been getting into the white handbag movement, and showing their fashion sense. It is both practical and fun to look at. I hope you find a handbag you like in this selection. Happy shopping!

For spring, jeans with a higher waist and wider cut create a long and flattering silhouette, these are the pants of the season and not just this coming spring season either. We saw this trend also on the Fall 2011 runways as well. But this spring is the time of contrast, we will still see cigarette pants and skinny pants as well but don’t go out and buy more of those because after spring, you will not see them again for a while (I agree with the saying that fashion recycles itself every 30 years, this holds true for 70s and 80s looks this year, doesn’t it). The 70s trend was all over the Fall 2011 runways and it is for a great reason, it looks great for just about any body type and height. You can pair these jeans with wedge sandals and a tank top for the spring and platform heels and a sweater for fall so if you are looking for a good piece of clothing that you can invest in, a good flared leg jean is the way to go.
You can never go wrong with brands like 7 for mankind, William Rast or Rock & Republic, their jeans are well made and stand the test of time. Check also for Lycra or other stretch material so the fit is perfect and hugs your body in the right places.
Here are some good alternatives from some of my favorite brands, and shall I mention that Amazon is giving free shipping and free return on jeans? Good luck, I hope you find something you like, give flared pants a try!

I am finally recovering from New York fashion week, it was an exhilarating experience, there were shows hour after hour and day after day and designers outdid themselves with collections to die for. Fall 2011 is going to be a great season for the clothing world, a season that combines opposites like tight pants and flare, 70s style pants that look a so modern, high mini skirts and long, floor skimming ones. I think there will be so much to choose from that a short girl like me will have so much fan coming september. But back to fashion week, there was so much talent around that made me just gasp. The best collections were definitely Carolina Herrera, Alexander Wang, Marc by Marc Jacobs and Monique Luillier and there were also some that disappointed me like the oh so expected Oscar de la Renta collection which was a complete let down I am afraid to say and joining Oscar was Vera Wang who does such a great job in wedding gowns but was not up to par with her ready to wear collection. Sadness.
No less interesting were all the fashionistas who attended the shows, A list celebrities like Fergie and the editor in-chief of Vogue Anna Wintour among others are always admired for their fashion taste, impeccable. Of course there are also the want-to-be fashionistas whom during fashion week put their best foot forward (or not) as you will see in the pictures below. These pictures were taken during fashion week and I find them amusing as it is hard for me to see just exactly what they were trying to convey with those outfits. I believe these are the ‘what not to wear’ gals but you be the judge, what do you think?

Fashion Week in New York City is anything but boring. People running around, trying to get to shows on time, editors of the best fashion magazines (i.e. Vogue, Bazaar, etc) and models everywhere looking their best, but the best thing about fashion week this year has been that many of the designers are broadcasting their shows live in the internet so people from all walks of live and all countries in the world can watch the shows live. What more can one ask for?
Let me also just point out that pictures of Fashion Week were posted first at the VirtualCatwalk facebook page, even within 5 minutes of the show, pictures were up for all to see, quite an accomplishment if I may say so myself.
But to the reason for this post, the past 6 days of shows have had anything from bright, shiny satin gowns that drape beautifully to tough wedge leather boots and I do have my favorites. Let’s see if you and I agree…
Alexander Wang
He received great reviews from Vogue and the New York Times. He wanted to poke a little good-natured fun at extreme wealth and the indulgent sporting lifestyle it affords. What he did was create a hybrid, turning luxury itself into an extreme sport. His pieces were ultra modern in luxe fabrics, more than one editor gasped when they saw the models walking the runway. Beautiful fur coats, wool vests and down jackets were tailored beautifuly.
His collection was the most true to the 70s vibe we will see in Fall 2011. Camel, orange, gold and browns were masterfully combined into ready-to-wear pieces that can easily be in any working woman’s closet. Coats, oh the coats were nothing but luxury with fur collars and belts that pay tribute to the woman of today. He has men and women walk the runway together which was new and welcomed change.
Fall for Marc Jacobs was all grown-up, a collection of great pieces—the likes of a gold leather cardigan, a striped camel blanket coat, and a yellow-gold velvet dress, all of which were worn with shearling wedge booties or high oxfords, a great example of the man’s shoe cantilevered onto a heel that has been around this past week. I think this is the best Marc Jacobs collection to date, what do you think?
My most favorite collection so far. Herrera does pretty in aces. So well, in fact, that sometimes it’s not exactly worth writing home about. This season, I am happy to report, the collection featured lots to like. The designer worked skirts and jackets in wool flannel with felt-like qualities, providing lots of body that was perfect for a long skirt with a kick pleat. Necks and shoulders were focal points to be framed by fur collars, artfully draped and even exposed. But it was Herrera’s choice of color that was particularly lovely — blacks that appeared gunmetal, rich rust, watery turquoise and gray mingled in a liquid jacquard that looked wet at times or even patent-leather shiny. There was no one piece of this collection I did not like and I am for sure not the only one to think this way. Tell us what was your favorite Fashion Week show?

The trench is a must-have piece for spring and this season there are all kinds of colors out there, jewel tones like green, purple and orange are up for grabs for those more fashion adventurous but for me, the quintessential trench is perfect in one of two colors: kaki or black. Here are a couple of great ones by BCBGMaxAzria. At $268.00 they are well, well worth the investment, they will last you forever and they can go with anything from a casual dress to office attire. The coats are made of Polyester, Rayon, Nylon, Spandex. Polyester Lining so they are easy to care for and oh so stylish. Ruffles, slick lines and modern shapes give you an updated look for either work or play.

Finding the best jeans that fit one’s body, make it look better and on top of that fit well has always been a challenge for me and I am sure it is the same case for many women out there. Knowing what looks good based on our body type get us surely one step further and closer to the ‘best fitting’ jeans. So here you have it, a summary of what to look for based on your body type. Happy shopping!
Look for: bootcut jeans and natural waist.
Avoid: low rise (makes your legs look shorter)
Don’t forget:
• Wear legs slightly long, and pair your jeans with heels.
• Darker rinses can have an elongating look.
• Skinny styles should also be long, not cropped.
If you have a full bottom
LOOK FOR…
A dark, even wash with a slight flare and stretch
AVOID…
Super-skinny jeans, high-waist styles and really wide legs.
DON’T FORGET…
• Try a slightly lower rise; it will allow room for the derrière.
• A boot-cut style will balance out the body.
• Avoid small back pockets, which will make the behind look bigger.
If You Have A Boyish Figure
LOOK FOR…
Low-rise, straight-leg styles with a fitted behind.
AVOID…
Flares cut for curvier shapes.
DON’T FORGET…
• Slouchy boyfriend styles with feminine shoes can be chic.
• You can get away with bigger, more detailed belts.
• Tuck in your shirt to add shape.
• Skinny jeans can be flattering.
If You’re Curvy
LOOK FOR…
Styles with at least a bit of stretch and straight or flared legs. You might have to fit your hips and behind, then have a tailor take in the waist.
AVOID…
Super-low-cut styles that will sit mid-hip and skinny jeans that are too tight on the bottom half of your legs.
DON’T FORGET…
• For tighter styles, try going a size up and tailoring them.
• Dark washes are most slimming.
• Opt for minimal hip details, avoid pocket embroidery.
If You Have A Short Waist
LOOK FOR…
A lower rise and a longer hem length.
AVOID…
High-waist styles and details around the top.
DON’T FORGET…
• Belts should blend in by being slim and neutral.
• Skinny jeans with longer, untucked tops camouflage your waist.
• Boyfriend styles that sit on the hips are great weekend alternatives.

One of the biggest trends we saw at the resort and spring runways was stripes. Striped dresses, striped sweaters and Ts and even striped blazers. This trend almost goes against what we have been told about stripes, horizontal stripes makes one look heavier, not true anymore, somehow, some way, these new designs have fluidity and an up-to-the-moment charm that make things work. Be as creative as you wish with colors, it is no longer just for blue and white stripes, designers have made yellow, orange, green and just about any other color combination work. Here are some of my favorite pieces that I cannot wait to wear:
Ella Moss “Cassidy” Striped Dolman Tee, $92, Bloomingdales. Calvin Klein Women’s Striped Long Sleeve Ribbed Flyaway Cardigan, $59. Chadwicks Striped Pointelle Hoodie, $17.
BCBGMAXAZRIA Womens One Sleeve Striped Power Dress, $298. Joie Womens Miley Striped Cardigan, $228. Red And Black Striped Bow Top $26.
G by GUESS Hania Striped Tunic, $44.50. Chadwicks Striped Open Cardigan, $49. Robert Rodriguez Striped Blazer, $375, Zappos.com

Thanks to new technology, shoe designers are going to extremes. Nowadays, no party of art opening would be complete without a fashion-forward heiress, actress or pop start tippy-toeing in unfathomable ortho-pods, clutching her assistant’s arm. Without tether, her shoes suggest, this woman might just fly away. Heels are the highest they have been in decades.
Naturally, there are some practical considerations that podiatrists are not shy to point out for example, they are concerned that the outrageous creations might cause long tome damage to the hips and knees. Lady GaGa found out just how dangerous this trend can be when she fell over at the airport last June. There is a not-so-fine line between aesthetic fantasy and the painful reality of schlepping around and airport concourse.
I am in full admiration of women who sacrifice physical comfort and speed for the achievement of donning ‘ difficult’ shoes. Designers have been oh so willing to put their devotees to the test with a plethora of tricky statements to wear. From the towering sickle-shaped platform, ankle boots in Oliver Theysken’s final show for Nina Ricci to Alexander McQueen’s marvelous armadillo-like creations last spring to the offending 9 inch heel-less platforms made by Noritaka Tatehana for Lady Gaga, the last thing shoes have looked over the past 3 years is grounded.
It is the access to technologies usually associated with architecture and product design that drives the most progressive footwear today. CAD (computer aided design) software is being used in Fashion colleges to design these beautiful shoes. With 3-D modeling you can create 3 dimensional wonders and address maters of structure and comfort later. These models are usually conventional shoes placed on top of a massive platform. A complete 3-D design can be ‘printed’ in it entirely from the computer and its pieces can be assembled in a matter of hours. Amazing.
Using this technology, a designer can make as many changes as they wish without having to cut leather and create a whole shoe from scratch every time. Designers have so much freedom that makes me think that soon they might just create the holy Grail, a super high comfortable shoe, one can only wish…

My definition of a shoe-aholic is someone who sees a beautiful pair of shoes and cannot help herself (or himself) but to buy them. You see, well made shoes with lots of attention to detail are in my book, well worth the investment. The problem with this theory is that during these past 3 seasons or so, attention to detail is not just a quality of expensive shoes but a must for any shoes brand that wants to be competitive in the marketplace. Leather, lace, bows, feathers can make pretty shoes not only pretty but unforgettably chic.So if you are still reading, you might be a shoe-aholic but fear not, I am here to tell you about some great websites where to get your ‘fix’.
One of my preferred shoes site (and even brick and mortar store) is DSW. The Designer’s Shoe Warehouse brings some of the most beautiful brand name shoes to within everyone’s reach. Brands like BCBG, Guess, Steve Madden, Jones New York, Jessica Simpson and others, The site is well designed and easy to navigate, if you know what you want, you can place an order in under a minute!, in addition, it offers free shipping for orders above $35 and ships also outside the USA. The best thing of all is that every purchase you make, earns you points towards DSW gift certificates.
A whole new breed of shoes site has come to life in the past 2-3 months. The subscription site in which you pay $39.99 per month and they bring you brand new shoes to choose from. If there are no shoes you like in a particular month, you can always skip the month but there is a catch, you must skip before the 5th of the month or your card will be charged. ShoeDazzle.com and JustFab.com (Just Fabulous) are the two sites which work this way. Unfortunately these sites (for now) only ship to the USA.
I have tried both sites and I will say up front that the quality of the shoes is not as great as designer shoes, I believe they are probably not made in the USA (but that is just my thought). These sites are backed by fashionable people in the industry, for example Kim Kardashian, who sends you her picks at the beginning of the month. You get an email with a link to the shoes chosen just for you, There will be about 10 pairs or so. If you do not like the designs, you can either skip the month or ask for more options. Either way the investment is not great and with free shipping both ways, you got nothing to loose. The only drawback for ShoeDazzle.com (this does not happen with JustFab.com) is that they not only push shoes but also make up brushes, handbags, hair accessories, etc which is not necessarily what I would be looking for if I am purchasing shoes. Lastly, JustFab.com offers your first purchase at 50% discount so for less than $20 you can be trying their shoes and deciding if they are for you or not.
This is a good time to be a shoe-aholic, with new options to choose from, one can get enough pairs of shoes to satisfy even the most discerning tastes. So go out there and be proud of the beautiful pieces you walk on.
Until next time ……

From feathers to shearling, studs and buckle details, nude pumps are all the rage. A firm favorite with the fashion pack, nude pumps come in leathers or suede and in an assortment of styles with plenty of added detailing. This trend can be spotted on celebrities all the time due to its versatility and ease of pairing with any color clothes. Choose your favorite dress and pair it with a great pair of pumps which are sure to give you an added bust of confidence. Especially if you are short like i am, blush pumps will give you added height without loss of comfort. Here is how Angelina Jolie wears hers:

Classic in style with a little extra volume goes a long way in what comes to nude pumps. They are perfect for all seasons as they can be worn alone in the spring/summer or paired with cozy thighs in fall/winter. Here are some of our favorites:

Valentine’s day is around the corner and red seems to be everywhere these days, it is the ‘it’ color that most celebrities are wearing to awards shows and it is for a good reason, the right shade of red can make anyone look refreshed, immediately. The key here are the words ‘right shade’ which is a task many times difficult to achieve and therefore, our recommendation is to introduce this color into your wardrobe as an accessory first. A pair of red earrings or a red bag can be easily worked into outfits and during the winter months to come, give a red scarf a try.
Once you are ready to try this color in make up, first, notice that not all reds are created equal. Each shade has varying levels of orange, pink, and blue. If you have lighter skin-tones, a more coral or orange-based red is your best option. Women with more medium tones can usually sport a true red, while darker-skinned tones favor a deeper, burgundy red tone. Here are some of our recommendations for the best red items to buy. Trust us, you will not go unnoticed.
Alexander McQueen Faithful Bowler, $959.40. Vince Camuto Women’s Michelle Peep-Toe Pump , $119. Chanel Rouge Coco Hydrating Creme Lip Colour in Ballet Russe, $30, available at Chanel
Jessica Simpson Women’s Josette Pump in Really red, $59.95. 100% CASHMERE 2PLY Mens / Womens Scarf, $35. Slim Dress Belt, $23
Cotton Elastic Newsboy Cap $9.99. Maybelline Moisture Extreme Lipcolor in Roseberry, $5.68 available at drugstores. Cashmere Lined Leather Gloves, $53.95.

For under $30 and under $50 dollars, we found a couple of alternatives that achieve the same look and are more wallet friendly.
The System150 Lace Ruffled Pumps come in pink, red and purple and the shades are very subtle so they go well with all sorts of fun colors. Their price tag: $28.17.

You can never have too many pairs of boots and this fall there are options for everyone. When money is tight and we need to be on a budget, one only really needs 4 pairs of boots for the entire fall and winter months:
- Booties: This is the ‘it’ boot this season and there is a pair for everyone. Wear it with pencil jeans or a ruffle dress. This pair in gray makes a great addition to any closet and the cute ruffles on the back are just cute.
- Black boots: High heel black boots will never go out of style, you can have them for many seasons and get a lot of wear out of them. 2 options presented here, high heels and flats for those days when you just want to be comfortable and high heels would not do.
- Brown slouchy boots: go well with leggings and even with a short dress. These are comfortable ones with a thick heel and very affordable at $59.95 at DSW.

We all have some form of a rocker inside of us, some more than others but everyone at some point in their lives has taken to this trend. The classic leather jacket is in full force this season and just about every store has one. Come cold, this jacket will come in handy over a summer dress or a sweater dress just as well. It gives you the ‘I just threw this on last minute’ look. Of course faux leather is way, way, way more affordable than the real thing but really, there is a jacket for everyone.
We love stylish but always comfortable clothing so jump into style with a Jumpsuit, this all-in-one piece is not only affordable but it can help you create various looks. You can go from a slick minimal look to a floral with 70s inspired bell bottoms to a casual, ‘hang around the house’ look. All with just one piece. The jumpsuit here is the ultimate in night time chic with the burnout detailing all over the piece and a sleek fit. You can dress this up with pearls or with a long necklace all the same.
This outfit can be paired with high heels or ornate booties but since I can only go so far with the rocker/edgy theme, I paired it with platform pumps to take some of that edge off. If you are really in the mood to go all the way rocker, I suggest this great find from our friends at BEBE. Click on the image for pricing information.Follow us on Twitter

Cozy knits are taking center stage this fall and H&M has come up with some really great options. Not only can you take a look at their proposed combinations for fall/winter 2010, but you can also come up with an outfit of your own in their website!
I am loving this combination, there so many things right here. Camel, one of the main colors we saw on the fall runways, slouchy boots that go well with anything for only $129 and of course staple pieces in black and white. If budget is tight and you are going to only get a few pieces this fall, the best advice I can give is to get something in Camel and the best place to do so is at H&M. Yes H&M is my favorite place to get on-trend clothes at an affordable price. There is really no need to go anywhere else and if I sound overexcited about them is because I am. Only they can come up with an animal sweater that looks so chic.
To make this look work in the city cold, accessories finish up the outfit. A great hat that will be key for winter plus a checkered scarf that has us thinking warm and cozy no matter what the forecast says. Finally, gloves that bring the whole ensemble together even though there are just two key color combinations. You can never be wrong with brown and black, that is for sure.
This fall and winter, sweater dresses take center stage as a new alternative for everyday dressing. It is easy to see how this happened, who wants to worry about what pants/skirt goes with what blouse when a dress gives you the whole outfit? Not to mention that once winter comes, one can just add a pair of leggings and call it a day. Pair a chunky knit dress with what else? boots, boots, boots …they come in handy during chilly nights as they easily allow us to keep our feet warm with comfy, cozy socks. Pair Black leggings with brown or green cargo boots for an effortless chic and casual outfit to take you anywhere.
I am in love with hats this fall, all types of them that can be paired with just about any outfit. Sorry to those professional women out there, I believe etiquette does not allow for wearing hats at work (but do it during your ‘off’ hours!). A dark hat would complete most clothing options and, brown is a great color for fall and winter, so be sure to get one.

This fall, pant shapes are in an all-time high. We have seen entirely opposites on the runway: Skinnies Vs full legs, jeggings Vs. 70′s inspired bell bottoms so here is a summary of what is available out there and how you can make the look yours.
This time of the year can be tricky. Technically it is still summer and the weather continues to be hot. But our heads and all the giant September magazine fashion issues weighing down our bags; have us thinking fall.
Add in the cooler nights that are starting to follow the warm daytime temperatures, the back-to-school season, and pre-season football, and we are caught up in a full-on web of clothing confusion.
There are simple ways to balance your fashion picks as summer eases into autumn and you begin to incorporate fall trends into your current wardrobe. The best way to start incorporating fall pieces is to do it one by one. For example, wear your black pants (Ann Taylor) with a summery top like shown here (Tahari) and summer shoes (BCBG).
As the temperature continues to drop, you will find that is still hot in the sun but somewhat cold in the shade. You will find yourself taking off and putting on layes throughout the day, not to mention the temperature in your office could be a little unpleasant. If this is the case, just add sweaters or coats to the ensemble and you are ready to go. Another easy way is to simply add a scarf (animal prints are in full swing for this coming fall). Last but not least, add heavy accessories or super modern shoes like over the knee suede boots. Wear boots with your summer shorts for an easy transition.
Last but not least, dresses are great transitional pieces and when paired with updated cardigans, accessories and footwear, they can be taken into the fall months. A silk/satin dress, depending on the style, can work into cooler months with tights and boots, especially the new military style ones that I bought from Victoria’s secret. These boots have become very popular this past season and can be worn also with skinny jeans and leggings.
So I am not a teenager but I am not 40 yet either. I am somewhere in between like many of us these days.
Yes! Lace, the delicate material that is so abundant on little girls dresses, will score major fashion points in the coming fall and winter. You will find lace not only on teenager’s clothes but in clothes for all ages. Whatever age you are give lace a try, it will make you feel more feminine, chic and it is sure to boost your confidence.
The perfect use for lace, I found this great off-white lace dress with an under dress in the same color. The length is mid-thigh, just what is in right now to show your great legs (no worries if you do not have great legs, you can wear this dress in the winter with leggings or knee-high boots). The dress is from Charlotte Russe (http://www.charlotterusse.com) and at $29.00 it is a total bargain for such a versatile dress. It totally hides imperfections in our body. Make sure to get a size bigger than your regular size as they run small. Shoes are Steve Madden from DSW and jewelry is from H&M.
These is a dress I will be coming back to for several months, do you have a dress that you instantly feel more beautiful when you wear? share with us in the comments section.

I cannot rave enough about NY&Co’s new line of easy to wear clothes, in stores now. Trendy and comfortable clothes on a budget!
New York & Company has introduced a line of easy to wear, modern separates that base the styles on the art of layering. They introduced their collection of casual-chic, mix-and-match pieces. Soft tunics, flowing cardigans, sleek leggings make up a collection you can wear every day of the week.
These garments are utterly light weight, with a smooth delicate finish. This is a fabric that moves with you in total comfort. Prices range from
$19.95 to $46.95. Pay them a visit, it is well worth the time!

Boots are still the thing to wear in the fall but the trendy ones for this coming season are to me the most fun I have seen in years. Lace-ups combined with sky-high heels in either leather or suede called my attention instantly so I searched for the best looking and most comfortable boots I could find. The prices range from great at $25.00 for Qupid to ‘are you kidding? ‘ $1,725 Christian Louboutin. In an effort to disclose all information I will say that I did not try the Christian Louboutin ones, I simple read about them, can’t find those in Nashville! But, they can be found if you so desire to buy them at Saks Fifth Avenue online.
On the budget side are my favorite Qupid brown booties at $24.95, they are the same ones I wrote about in the Mid-summer shoe style post but they are in brown and can found at urbanog.com. Really cute ones to wear with pencil jeans.
A little higher on price point are the H&M silver boots below, at only $49.95, they are a great alternative to wear with the gray palette for this fall. But even getting more greedy, you can find a very similar pair of boots by Qupid (not, I do not own stock in Qupid !), the Nelson-21 Lace Up Bootie for only $16.70, what a deal.
Victoria’s secret has also a great selection of boots that are modern but can still be worn by just about everyone. Refinery 29 on the other hand has created a great slide show of boots for this fall, but be warned though, they have some that are a little out there.

I am always on the look out for denim that fits well as a great pair of jeans is always in style. This season the skinny shape is everywhere and it so happens to be one of the most difficult to wear, sadly, it shows any extra pounds that too much ice cream adds on. So I went on a mission to find pencil/skinny jeans that are comfy and friendly to a woman’s body (keep in mind I said Woman’s body, not teenager’s body) and, ones in which we can actually sit down without being afraid of showing too much. After trying on about 50 pairs of jeans, here are the top three pairs to try:
- 2nd runner up: Victoria’s secret VS pencil jean. These come in several colors including white that can be worn now and into the fall. At $49.50 this is a great deal. Low rise, slim fit, skinny leg with 14” opening. It is made up of cotton and spandex so it molds to your body beautifully. They run small so order a size up than your normal size.
- 1st runner up: 7-for Mankind Roxanne jeans. These are the most expensive of the ones I tried on at $ 159.00. Their dark wash gives the appearance of a smaller size and the back side is actually higher than the front to prevent panty peek. They are 2% elastane which makes them comfortable to wear and they are also true to size.
- Winner! : New York & company Five pocket Jegging, Hazel wash, average. At $ 46.95 there were just about the cheapest ones I tried on and mind you, NY&Co is having a sale right now of “buy a pair of jeans and get the second for 75% off”. Great deal and it goes to tell you that expecting bad quality for a lower price is no longer the rule. The jean comes in a sleek dark wash and it is made of cotton, polyester and spandex for a shape that easily hugs your body and feels comfortable. They run true to size and fit really well. (by the way, last minute info, New York & Co Premium Flare jean was voted # 1 best fitting jean by SELF magazine, one more reason to go over to New York & Co this weekend)
Good luck shopping!

I am one of those people who when it comes to clothes, I have a hard time letting go of them. So I have this dress that was a gift from my sister and that I have worn maybe 3 or 4 times only but I like the color. It is a breezy chiffon frock with a key element for this season, flowers! So I was on a mission to find a way to wear it this summer.
There comes a wide belt to the rescue, as they have become one of those timeless closet staples that modernize any dress and looks so now. Add a wide belt to my old dress and here is a dress combination that’s fresh and fun. Note that one more element is important, the length of the dress, it hits right at mid-tight. If you have a longer dress that you want use this season, just have it altered, it will cost way less than buying a new one.
This ensemble is versatile enough to match with many on-season shoes like brown or bone strappy sandals. I chose gold as a detail that brings extra oomph to my ensemble (sandals by Guess). To continue on the topic of going from summer to fall, in the fall, pair the dress with a denim jacket and you are ready to go, oh-so-chic.

There’s no better wardrobe staple than fashionable shoes to carry you through the seasons. In my last trip to New York city, I found 2 pairs of the perfect shoes to do just that.
The super comfy flats form Lovely people are so cute and modern with suede-like material in just the right color for now. They are flip-flops but accented with metallic detail and a huge dose of chic that can be worn with jumpsuits and tunics. I was not able to find the exact shoes online but you can find very similar shoes here at DSW.
The second pair I found in NYC are a combination of boots and sandals from Cupid and they have just what it takes to invigorate any wardrobe. These say that you are a modern woman not afraid to make a statement. They are easy to wear and easy on the eyes, not to mention, the perfect color for this coming fall. I would wear them with shorts now and in the fall with dark leggings or body conscious jeans and a drapey T.
These shoes are everyday basics with fashionable twists that will be appropriate for both, an easy weekend or nighttime play.
I love New york, the best fashions are there, right?

If you had to own just one dress and one dress only that would take you from summer to fall effortlessly, it would have to be one of BCBG’s drop-waist tie dresses.
This dress drapes beautifully and gray being one of the ‘it’ colors for fall makes it a very versatile option either alone or paired with at t-shirt underneath. You can dress it down with
Gladiator sandals or dress it up with edgy high heel sandals for an effortlessly chic look in the city.
BCBG’s line of dresses is my favorite and there is always something that I ‘have to have’ when a new collection comes out.
If you prefer long sleeves, check out their Epaulet-sleeve dress here.
Is there a line of dresses that you prefer? Or a dress you have had for years and keep coming back to? Let us know in the comments…
Top 5 looks for resort:
In this time of the year, everyone starts to fantasize about going to the beach with some friends and just relax and take our minds off from work.
There are tons of options this year but I have listed my top 5 looks for resort season:
1.- A crop top in bone color paired with a high-waisted and full mini skirt will make the simple top pop up.
2.- Long Sweaters and long skirts. The sweater must cover the hips and be made of a breathable fabric. The skirt on the other hand must be long to the floor and made of a very thin fabric like linen. The look we are going for is a mermaid silhouette.
3.- Cropped palazzo pants. To make these pants look like they were intentionally added to the ensemble, pair them with an equally thin blouse. Pants should hit right on the ankle, not shorter. You can add a gold colored jacket to bring your look to fall when it is the right time.
4.- Structured pattern blazer. This is a new spin on the seasons’ look of ripped t-shirts and a black blazer. Find a fitted blazer in a new, heavy pattern to pair with ankle length pants (the length for this coming fall season). All of you who know me know that I am short so I need to stay away from these pants but I would love to wear them if I was a bit taller.
5.- Pleaded skirt. This one is very popular right now, the more pleads the better but since this can get overwhelming soon, pair the skirt with a high neck blouse in a simple solid color and if breathable fabric.
There you go, those are my top 5 looks for resort. Let’s go shopping. I also think that I might need to star adding some pictures to my blogs to make them more interesting, what do you think?

Fall 2010 is coming soon…Here is a summary of what we saw at Bryant Park and that is sure to be hot this coming fall.
The colors: definitely camel and gray are the ‘it’ shades for Fall 2010.
The shapes: Designers continue to embrace classic lines that hug the body. Tailored clothes in rich textures are in but remember, these are fitted pieces, not tight ones (there is a world of difference between both)Tailored does not mean tight, opt for clothes that fit perfectly and create clean lines like Dolce & Gabbana suits or Marc Jacobs skirts. Clean minimalism is the key here.
Thin belts help clothes hug your body, create a small waist by pairing a thin belt with a chunky cable-knit sweater and a pencil skirt to finish the look. Try also skinny jeans from J Brand and pair them with high heels and a fur vest with a small belt to define the waist.
To finish your ensemble, coats on the other hand are loose around the body and display large shoulder pads, and if you dare, go ahead and wear opulent fur, feathers and fringe. They popped up everywhere.
Still in fashion are thigh-highs, cozy and thick, paired with your girly high heels and an artful print dress. Dresses with unusual draping were seen at many catwalks.
The makeup: Complexion perfection is the key and with all of the products out there to make it look perfect, we all can have radiant skin. A dust of peach colored blush looks good in just about anyone. Minimal foundation is met by vibrant reds on the lips or dramatic eyes that make a statement. Just make sure that you choose one feature to highlight but not both or you risk looking overdone.
Hair: Sexy textured strands complement big-time make up as seen in Marc Jacobs and Cavalli’s runway.
